Nike SB Janoski Flyleather

We just received the new Janoski Flyleather, a shoe born from Stefan’s quest for more environmentally conscious practises. Flyleather is comprised of at least 50% recycled leather fiber from scraps that would otherwise be left on the factory floor. This Remastered Janoski also uses 3% Nike Grind in the sole and side wall tape. Nike Grind takes cast-off manufacturing rubber, grinds it up into little grains and reconstitutes it into everything from shoe soles to play and sport surfaces. This is explained in the video above featuring Stefan and Elissa Steamer on a visit to London last year. They met up with Korahn Gayle, Casper Brooker and Kyron Davis to try out the shoe in the city. Stefan, Elissa and Korahn also visited the factory in Peterborough where flyleather was developed to find out more about this progressive material. The carbon footprint of this shoe has been considered at each level, the shoe laces and tongue label are made from recycled materials and the reduced stitch line Swoosh minimises components. This new incarnation of the trusty Janoski works better than ever too. Based on abrasion testing Flyleather is both lighter and more durable than traditional leather.
